neo at the ID_Berlin | Industrial Design Competence

neo is one of 15 exhibits of Berlin industrial design that will be presented from 1st to 30th June 2011 at the ID_Berlin | Industrial Design Competence exhibition. From dockside cranes, USB sticks and DJ equipment to this SELUX family of luminaires awarded the Good Design Award 2008, the objects shown in this exhibition represent industrial design in the German capital. In the future, ID_Design is also to be exhibited at other industry-oriented platforms, both in Germany and abroad. The next stop for the travelling exhibition will be the 'Business of Design Week' in Hong Kong. The exhibition will be opened as part of the DMY International Design Festival on 31st May 2011 at 17.30 pm in Ludwig Erhard Haus.

German Light Design Prize 2011

The team from Kardorff Ingenieure has been presented with the German Light Design Prize in the "Public Areas/Street Lighting" category for its lighting concept for the 'Marktplatz' in Neubrandenburg. At the focus of this light design are ten-metre-high light columns, which protrude like gigantic sculptures, producing a sophisticated SELUX solution, both in terms of engineering and aesthetics.

Magical areas of unspoiled nature in a reserved light setting, lighting of company headquarters inspired by corporate identity and visionary LED light solutions are just some of the topics to be found in the latest version of UPDATE by SELUX.  This annual magazine presents the best highlights from architecture, design and lighting SELUX has produced in collaboration with renowned architectural offices and light planning bureaus around the world.

The magazine presents 16 individual project definitions together with an explanation of how these were converted into suitable lighting concepts by SELUX. Semperlux to be gold sponsor for the Professional Lighting Design Convention (PLDC) 2011 in Madrid

Semperlux AG is set to act as a gold sponsor for the Professional Lighting Design Convention (PLDC), which is scheduled to be held in Madrid from 19th to 22nd October 2011. In the Spanish capital, lighting experts will be coming together for the lighting industry’s largest global conference for the third time. Held in London in 2007 and in Berlin in 2009, the global convention has become an attractive networking platform for light designers, architects, students and manufacturers from the lighting industry.  Four panels running in parallel will comprise both young professionals and recognised experts from science and industry, in a total of 65 presentations. The three-day conference will also be accompanied by a trade fair in which selected manufacturers, among them Semperlux, will be presenting the latest trends and most innovative engineering solutions from the lighting industry.

The PLDC will this year be hosted by the VIA Verlag, which publishes Professional Lighting Design Magazine, and the Professional Lighting Design Association, PLDA.

Reconstruction of the Neue Museum in Berlin

At the Lighting Design Award 2011, the Neue Museum in Berlin has been nominated for one of nine possible awards in the category "International Projects". The lighting concept was designed by the team at Kardorff Ingenieure Lichtplanung, Berlin under the management of Gabriele von Kardorff. Illumination of rooms is reserved and harmonious while optimal accentuation of exhibits has been created by efficient use of daylight and artificial light that includes special productions by SELUX. The decision as to which project the trophy is to be awarded to will be revealed at the celebratory awards ceremony at the Hilton Hotel in Park Lane, London, which is due to take place on 10th March 2011. This renowned prize is awarded for innovative concepts in lighting design by Lighting magazine, the Institution of Lighting Engineers and the Lighting Industry Federation.

Eco-management system as per DIN EN ISO 14001 launched
Environment-oriented company management has long since been an integral element of Semperlux Group company policy - thinking about a light’s “afterlife” during its design phase has been part of Semperlux tradition ever since the company has existed. Likewise the company’s claims to quality and sustainability are emphasised by the optimised efficiency, easy maintenance, long service lives and modular design of its products. Following the successful launch of this environmental management system, Semperlux AG will now have even more checkpoints against which it can regularly inspect and further optimise its products. Certification of environmental management in accordance with DIN EN ISO 14001 covers three areas of the company: Semperlux AG, its plant for outdoor luminaires Semperlux AG & Co. KG (Zachow works) and the subsidiary EUTRAC Stromschienen GmbH.

Semperlux supporting the Professional Lighting Design Convention (PLDC) 2009 in Berlin
From 28th to 31st October 2009, lighting designers and architects from around the world will be coming together in Berlin for the 2009 Professional Lighting Design Convention (PLDC). Having been held in London for the first time in 2007 with great success, this global conference on lighting design will be taking place in Berlin this year. Notable personalities from science and industry will be reporting about the new developments in the field of lighting and illumination. More than 1,000 guests are expected at the convention and, in the Pullmann Hotel Schweizerhof, they will have the chance to exchange views on more than 60 presentations and industry reports. The convention will also be under prominent patronage this year since the event will be supported by the governing mayor of Berlin.

Semperlux AG too will be acting as a gold sponsor for the convention. "As a company that was founded in Berlin and is still based there today, we are delighted to be able to welcome to the city so many top experts in the field of lighting," says Veit Müller, member of the Semperlux AG board, of the company’s commitment to the convention.
